Spectaculous unites Atlanta-based vocalist, producer, and community advocate Dequadray White with Madison musicians Jason Kutz (piano), Ben Ferris (bass), and Michael Koszewski (percussion) — members of the acclaimed ensemble Mr. Chair. Together, they fuse hip-hop’s narrative power with jazz’s improvisational spirit to create a sound that’s cosmic, urgent, and rooted in social consciousness.
White’s background in poetry, theater, and digital production grounds the group’s lyrical depth and Afrofuturist vision, while Kutz, Ferris, and Koszewski bring a virtuosic blend of classical training and experimental drive. Between them, they’ve performed with professional orchestras, composed for ballet and chamber ensembles, collaborated with major arts institutions, and led music education initiatives across the Midwest and beyond.
What emerges in Spectaculous is a meeting of worlds — four artists fluent in both structure and freedom, channeling decades of experience into a single shared pursuit: the sound of liberation.
